Moses Sowale

A life-long Anglican and churchman, Reverend Moses Sowale grew up in the seminary, Immanuel College of Theology Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria where his brother, Samuel Sowale, was then a professor. Moses attended both elementary and high school at Immanuel College Primary and Immanuel College High School Ibadan. He studied Electrical Engineering at Kwara State Polytechnic before returning to Immanuel College of Theology for his seminarian studies. He was ordained in June 2002.

In Nigeria, Moses served at Bishop Akinyele Memorial Anglican Church Ibadan as curate and youth chaplain, then at St. Paul's Anglican Church Yemetu Ibadan as curate and youth chaplain. As a result of his interest in using pastoral care to support the empowerment of women and youth, he set up The Voice Christian Center for Family Development, Pastoral Care and Counseling, which is now officially registered as a faith-based non-governmental organization called Fingerprint Pastoral Care and Counseling Center, Nigeria. While engaged in these ministries he also completed his bachelor's degree in Religious Studies at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

Moses' passion for liberating humanity led him to seek further education in the United States where he earned a master's degree in Pastoral Ministry and Counseling from Boston College in 2009. While at BC, Moses served as associate priest and high school Sunday school teacher at All Saints Parish in Brookline.

After completion of his master's degree, Moses worked at Advocates Inc. as a counselor and also completed 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Brighton, MA and Havenwood-Heritage Heights, Concord, NH. Moses then served as a missionary and evangelist at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Brockton and is now Missioner at Grace Chapel (Episcopal/Anglican ministry) Brockton. A committed listener, mentor, evangelist and counselor, Moses is an active voice and witness for the oppressed, women's empowerment, youth development, care for the poor and deep concern for the less privileged.

Moses is a pioneer of the Theology of Uniqueness, teaching that equality can be achieved without the need for sameness. He strives to serve as a bridge between groups and individuals with differing points of view. His greatest goal in life is to tell his stories in all their glory and blemishes, thereby giving others permission to embrace their own stories as sacred and by so doing, attain a place of wholeness and peacefulness.

Moses is married to Comfort, and they are blessed with two boys.
